"I visited Lincoln this weekend," Gartner said. "I got a letter in the mail from Nebraska last Tuesday inviting me to come to Fresno State game. It was lunch, pre-game and the game."
There was only one official visitor this past weekend, but there was a good group of visitors as a whole. Gartner said that he got to spend some time talking to some of the other recruits.
While Gartner has seen mostly everything of what Nebraska has to offer he said that the tour that was given was excellent. He said that as a lineman he also appreciated the quality of food that the Nebraska training table has to offer.
"The tour guides were awesome, they showed us everything. They were able to tell us everything about Nebraska football, about Bo Pelini and all of the facilities.
"We made our way over to the weight room and saw the dedicated section by Ndamukong Suh. We ate at the training table and that was fantastic food."
Recruits aren't allowed to come out with the team for the tunnel walk so they enter the field beforehand. Seeing the tunnel walk from the field though is a different perspective than he's seen it from before. He had the same reaction though.
"We had to watch the tunnel walk from down on the field and it was a different perspective than what I have typically seen it. It always gives me goose bumps."
Nebraska was tested early by Fresno State, but in the end they were able to put them away. Gartner was impressed by the play of a true freshman on offense and one of the pre-season All-Americans on defense.
"I thought that they played well. Tyler Moore is really impressive to come in as a true freshman and play like that. The defense did well. I thought that Lavonte David played the best game out of everyone I watched."
Gartner said that he has been invited back for the game this coming weekend and while he was happy to see Lincoln he missed an amazing game that he was also invited to come and see.
The interest from Michigan is new and they have invited Gartner to come up and see a game at a later date. Besides Michigan he is still receiving quite a bit of interest from some schools that he camped at this summer.
Gartner mentioned that this week is set for Nebraska. He and a 2012 recruit plan on hanging out together while they are in Lincoln this weekend. "I am signed up to go this weekend for sure. I will be there with Mike Shoff. I know that he and I will be there this weekend."
