Offensive line sports gutsy performance

Posted Nov 12, 2011

It wasn't always pretty, but the Nebraska offensive line did what they needed to on Saturday afternoon for a win. Despite playing just five guys, a few of the Husker lineman felt they had more in the gas tank than Penn State at the end.

State College, PA – The Nebraska offensive line might not have ended the game the way they wanted– on the field – but the Husker front five did enough on the road to squeeze out a 17-14 victory Saturday afternoon.

Barney Cotton’s crew will once again be questioned and a focus going into Michigan next week, but the facts are - the Penn State defensive line is really solid and Nebraska was short handed up front.

Sophomore guard Andrew Rodriguez did not make the trip to Happy Valley, the Aurora product was battling a cold all week – meaning Seung Hoon Choi started in his place.

The Huskers were able to only play five players up front total, with both guards being walk-ons.

Let it soak in for a minute…

They didn’t play as bad as it appeared. A gutty performance like that could actually be called pretty solid.

The starting line of Jermarcus “Yoshi” Hardrick, Seung Hoon Choi, Mike Caputo, Spencer Long, and Marcel Jones only helped the offense collect 331 yards total, but this was a Penn State defense that was allowing only 282 total yards a game and even better at home.
