Claiborne High on Nebraska
Darian Claiborne (Port Allen HS) was nothing less than an ironman as a junior. The Louisiana native compiled 1,640 passing yards and 17 touchdowns, while adding 1,100 yards on the ground with nine more scores. Defensively, Claiborne tallied 128 tackles with 12 tackles for loss, four sacks and three forced fumbles. And to add to that, he accounted for over 1,000 yards punting with an average of 33.9 yards while also holding for field goal attempts. Simply put, there's not much Claiborne can't do when it comes to the gridiron. However, Nebraska has already told the 6-foot-0, 220 pound. prospect what position they envision him at. "I've talked to Bo Pelini and Coach Ross Els," said Claiborne, who plans to visit Lincoln during the Huskers' spring game. "They just basically said they liked my film and saw me playing weak linebacker in their defense." Coming to Nebraska to be a linebacker is something Claiborne is greatly considering, especially when he has seen players such as Ndamakong Suh and Prince Amukamara recently find success at the NFL level following their days at Lincoln. "Of course," said Claiborne when asked if Nebraska's NFL history will play any affect in his decision. "Every athlete dreams to make it big and take the easiest route there." How high is Nebraska on his list? Well, although he didn't state them as the leading candidate, he did put them among his top two schools with Texas A&M being the other, and his thoughts upon learning of his offer from the Huskers is definitely a great sign for the coaching staff. "It was a great moment in my life to be considered by a tradition-rich school such as Nebraska," said Claiborne. "I like them a lot and they plans they have for me there." var VideoMediaID = "991409" var Volume= "0" var MediaDir = "http://video.scout.com/media/"; var VideoURL = MediaDir + "video/flv/" + parseInt( VideoMediaID / 10000 ) + "/" + VideoMediaID + ".flv"; var ImageURL = MediaDir + "video/flv/" + parseInt( VideoMediaID / 10000 ) + "/" + VideoMediaID + "t.jpg"; var so = new SWFObject ('http://cdn-cms.scout.com/swf/flvplayer.swf','mpl','100%','300','2'); so.addParam ('allowscriptaccess','always'); so.addParam ('allowfullscreen','true'); so.addVariable ('height','300'); so.addVariable ('file',VideoURL); so.addVariable ('image',ImageURL); so.addVariable('volume', Volume); so.addVariable('mute', 'false'); so.addVariable ('backcolor','0x000000'); so.addVariable ('frontcolor','0xFFFFFF'); so.addVariable ('lightcolor','0x00FF00'); so.addVariable ('screencolor','0x000000'); so.addVariable('stretching','stretchfit'); so.addVariable('overstretch', 'true'); so.addVariable ('logo','http://media.scout.com/media/a/_network/mediaplayer/scoutTVlogo.png'); so.addVariable ('showstop','true'); so.write ('player'); Junior Highlights - Josh Harvey - Kyle Phillippi covers the Big Ten Conference for BigRedReport.com.
