Beau Sandland has seen a number of schools come in to take a closer look at him. The 6-foot-6 and 250-pound tight end from Los Angeles (Calif.) Pierce J.C. informed BigRedReport.com that Nebraska was there today.
“Nebraska was here today,” Sandland said. “Coach John Garrison and Coach Rich Fisher were here today from Nebraska. Coach Garrison is the tight ends coach and Coach Fisher is the wide receivers coach.”
The Nebraska staff was there and saw Sandland do a work out. Sandland said that he was able to lift some weights and then went outside for some work out on the field too.
“We’re not allowed to talk to the coaches, but I knew that they were there. They watched us in the weight room and they watched us do some field work. They had to go because they were recruiting in Southern California.”
Pierce doesn’t start spring practices until next Tuesday because they like the idea of lining up spring ball with the evaluation period. Sandland said that the Nebraska coaches were coming back in May to check out a spring practice.
“We don’t start spring practices until May 1st. We are working with our coaches right now doing weights and some conditioning. We do our spring practices late because our coaches want to time it with the evaluation period.”
Sandland has gone from not knowing if he would get an offer, to feeling fortunate for getting an offer to being excited about who will offer next. Sandland says that he is keeping things open and says that he will trim things down towards the end of the summer and enjoy the process.
“Georgia and Baylor were the last two offers. I was happy to get the first one and it’s gotten exciting and fun with the new offers, but it’s also humbling to get these offers from these schools and to know that they have interest in me and want me to come to school there.
“It’s very early in the process and I am keeping my options open. It’s too early to really to have favorites much less come to a decision. I will begin to narrow things down as the season approaches. I look forward to the rest of the process. I am only going to go through this once so I am going to enjoy it.”
While Sandland will wait to trim his overall list there is a list being made right now. That list consists of schools that he will officially visit this fall. There are three schools that have made the cut so far. One of those teams is Nebraska.
“Nebraska will get one of my five official visits. Ole Miss and Florida are probably the other two that I know that I will take an official visit to. As for the other two I am not sure who they are yet. I have offers from all three schools.”
