The Nebraska football team held their third night practice of fall camp on Wednesday evening.

Lincoln, Neb. - The Nebraska football team held their third night practice of fall camp on Wednesday evening, working for just over two hours on the Ed and Joyanne Gass Practice Fields outside of the Hawks Championship Center. Following the team's practice in full pads, Head Coach Bo Pelini spoke about what he's seen in the first few days of fall camp.

"We've had a good start to camp and that's what it's been: a good start," Pelini said. "We've made progress, but it's early. We've already started mixing and matching and moving guys around and seeing where they fit and how they fit on this football team. The competition has been good up to this point, but it's early."

Pelini spoke about mixing personnel groups as well as the competition level at all positions.

"We've already been experimenting, moving guys around and using a lot of different personnel groups," Pelini said. "There's competition at every position, probably moreso than almost any time since I've been here. Hopefully that will make us a better football team as we move along."

Pelini also touched on how personnel mixing allows coaches to evaluate players on their ability to adapt to change.

"The truth's on the film," Pelini said. "Everything's being evaluated and every guy's being evaluated, every single rep every day. It's up to them; it's up to the team and the players to determine who's going to be in there at the end of the day. No job is going to be given to anybody. Guys are going to have to win jobs and in the end, that'll make us a better team."

As for injuries, Pelini said the team is continuing to hold up well.

"No injuries of note to report," Pelini said. "I wish I had some wood to knock on, but we've been pretty healthy so far."

The Huskers will continue their fall camp practices on Thursday night as the team prepares for it's season opening game on Sept. 1 against Southern Miss. The game is slated for a 2:30 p.m. CT kickoff and will be broadcast regionally on ABC and ESPN2.
