Lincoln, NE - Nebraska offensive lineman Corey Whitaker's freshman season ended quicker than it got started.
"Corey Whitaker, he tore his knee and is out for the year," said Nebraska head coach Bo Pelini on Wednesday. "I think it was Monday night...He’s going to be a really good player. He’ll come back fine and he’ll recover fully."
Whitaker came to Nebraska from Vista Muerrieta HS in California. He was a two-star prospects and the No. 133 offensive guard in the country.
Whitaker had offers from Fresno State, Idaho, Nevada, San Diego State, and San Jose State. He was also scheduled to take an official visit to Oregon the same week he committed to Nebraska.
The freshman was replaced on the Nebraska 105 by Brandon Chapek.
