Martinez and Maher receive B1G awards

A pair of Nebraska Cornhuskers received Player of the Week honors from the Big Ten on Monday.

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Nebraska quarterback Taylor Martinez and kicker Brett Maher have received honors from the Big Ten.

Martinez is co-offensive player of the week after helping the Cornhuskers rally from a 17-point second-half deficit to beat Wisconsin 30-27 on Saturday. Martinez threw for 181 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 107 yards and a TD. The junior shared the award with Northwestern's Kain Colter.

Maher kicked the tying field goal in the third quarter and the game-winning field in the fourth. He was 3 of 4 on field goals and averaged 46.7 yards a punt.
