In our next issue of Big Red Report magazine (which hits the newsstands today), we ask the Lincoln Journal Star's Brian Rosenthal, 93.7 The Ticket's Nick Bahe, and the Voice of the Huskers Kent Pevelka to preview a handful of topics regarding the 2012-13 hoops season.
For a small preview of what's to come in the magazine, check out this question.
Fans used to talk a lot about the style of play Doc Sadler's teams had. What kind of style would you like to see from Miles' crew?
Rosenthal: “They are going to be more uptempo and have more of an offensive identity. They are going to run a motion offense. It will be an adjustment for some of those guys. It will be a lot more back-cutting and screening...I think it will be a lot more entertaining brand of basketball offensively. I also think they will get up and down the court a little more when they can. I don't necessarily see that right away, because of the numbers they have, but down the road.”
Bahe: “I would like to see something that is a little unconventional. I think when you are less talented, you have to do things that are a little gimmicking. Whether it's shooting a lot of threes or running an offense like Northwestern. You don't have to run the Princeton, but do something a little different. If you think you are just going to be able to roll the ball out and do the same things Ohio State, Michigan State, and Michigan are doing, they are going to have better talent right now. I don't know exactly what I would like to see them do, but I do know they need to be a little bit different. That makes you tough to play against.”
Pavelka: “I would like to see a style where you win by two and it doesn't matter what the score is. I think Doc played the way he thought would give them a chance to win and I think you will see Miles do the same thing. I think the thing that would really energize the fans more is if they scored more. But that could be a problem this first year. I'm not hung up on style, I'm more worried about results.”
