Smith Sees Iowa
Coppell (TX) High Coach Joe McBride doesn't have any insight into where Cameron Smith is headed to play college football. He does believe that the school his senior receiver chooses will be getting a super talent. "He's a great one," McBride said. "He has tremendous speed, runs great routes and has great hands. He's also a tremendous student with high character. I understand why they want him so bad." The 6-foot, 180-pound Smith wrapped up his official visits with a stop at Iowa this past weekend. He also officially visited Arizona State and Nebraska and is expected to pick between those three schools this week, his coach said. "He said he had a great time up there," McBride said of Iowa. "He said it was cold. They had a sleet storm. "He really enjoyed all of his visits. That's why the decision is going to be so tough." Scout.com ranks Smith as a three-star prospect on its five-star scale. The service tabs him as the No 123 wide receiver nationally in the Class of 2013. Smith caught 59 passes for 1,071 yards and 15 touchdowns this fall. McBride said his star has been timed running the 40-yard dash in 4.4 seconds. "He can play any of the receiver positions," McBride said. "He's comfortable outside or inside. He blocks on our running plays and takes pride in that." McBride said he expects Smith to choose his college "in the next couple of days." "He hasn't said he's leaning one way or the other," McBride said. "He's just been talking about it and praying with his family." McBride said that Smith is looking to major in engineering in college.
