In our next issue of Big Red Report magazine, we ask the Big Ten Network's Tom Dienhart, the Lincoln Journal Star's Brian Christopherson, and BRR's Josh Harvey to answer a handful of topics previewing the Huskers offseason and 2013 season.
So how about a little preview? Here is one question you should expect in the next magazine.
Other than the Michigan game, what conference game worries you the most?
Dienhart: “It’s Northwestern. It’s probably weird to hear it, but Nebraska fans shouldn’t be surprised. They won in Lincoln two years ago and should have won last year in Evanston. This year is probably the best team Fitzgerald has had. They are going to be ranked in the preseason polls. The offense is back intact and the defense is going to be his best unit.”
Christopherson: “I think you have to point out Northwestern first and foremost. That's a team that Pat Fitzgerald has believing is their time. They have been talking about it all spring. They think it's their time to win the division and make a move in the conference race. They have also given Nebraska issues the past two seasons. The question with Northwestern is - will a tough early schedule derail them by the time they get to Nebraska? But the other game to watch is the trip to Happy Valley. We don't know what they have in year two after the scandal, but they are well coached and it's a tough place to play.”?
Harvey: “It has to be Northwestern, just because Nebraska has had issues in the past with the Wildcats and the fact that it is a week before you travel to Michigan. The Wildcats might have to start the season with Ohio State and Wisconsin, but they get a rest before Nebraska with games against Iowa and Minnesota. They will be ready, knowing a chance at the conference title is still in play, especially if they can knock off OSU or WI.”
