Nebraska's is going black with this year's alternative uniform.

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Nebraska's is going black with this year's alternative uniform.

The University of Nebraska and Adidas AG unveiled the uniforms Tuesday for the Sept. 14 home game against UCLA.

The uniforms feature black jerseys with white numbers and the word "Huskers" in red in place of players' names.

This will be the second time the Cornhuskers have traded in their traditional home red jerseys for an alternative look. These alternative uniforms will allow Nebraska's Blackshirt defense to actually wear black shirts in a game.

Nebraska will keep the white pants and white helmets, but both will feature black stripes, and the helmet's facemask will be red and black. The team's traditional red "N'' remains on the helmets.
