from Hays (Kans.) was on the road checking out Nebraska
this weekend. The 6-foot-0 and 190-pound dual-threat quarterback was blown away by the game day atmosphere in Lincoln.
"It was my first time being in Lincoln and it was great," Delton said. "The tunnel walk is so intense and me being int he locker room and then came out ahead of the team was just crazy.
"The fans were so loud and the atmosphere there was so great. I couldn't have asked for a better visit."
Delton got to see the Nebraska up close and came away with the thought that he could be a good fit. The Huskers like to use the quarterback as a ball distributor as well as a running threat.
"I feel like I'd fit in perfectly. They like to run with their quarterback from time to time and that's something that separates me from other quarterbacks. I can beat you through the air or on the ground."
Delton said that he didn't realize that Nebraska had as good of facilities as they had. He was also very surprised with the tradition surrounding the football program at Nebraska.
"The facilities really stood out the most. I had no idea Nebraska had top notch facilities and have so much tradition with their program.
"I am so glad that I decided to come up. Also finally getting a chance to meet Coach John Garrison. I didn't have a chance to talk with Coach Tim Beck today."
It's too early to tell, but Delton said that he thinks he will make it back to Lincoln at some other point. He wasn't too concerned that Nebraska lost today and admitted that their opponent has a tough team this year.
"I am almost positive I will get back to Lincoln in my future. That's part of recruiting. The losing wasn't a big deal. Michigan State has a great team this season."
