LINCOLN, Neb. - After four years of leading the helm at quarterback, it appears Nebraska quarterback Taylor Martinez's career is officially over.
"He (Martinez) will be out for the game—I should say not 100 percent, but it looks like he will be out for the game," Pelini said."I think it is hard, this whole season has been hard on him and obviously it is not ideal, and not the way you want to see him go out," Pelini said. "I feel for him, it has been a difficult deal, but he is not 100 percent yet."
Martinez, who's just played in four games this season, has a list of injuries - the biggest being his left foot.
"I think he's had a helluva career. He's broken a lot of records. He's done some great things. He has nothing to hang his head about," said Pelini in his press conference during Iowa week. "You can't say enough about him and what he's done. He's been through a lot. I don't think he was appreciated as much as he probably should've been while he's been here. I think that's to be said. I think it's unfortunate the way this year has played out for him and I feel for him."
