With an estimated crowd of 2,500 fans watching with the Huskers, Nebraska heard their name selected on Selection Sunday.
The Huskers received the No. 11 seed in the West Region and will take on 6th-seeded Baylor (24-11) in the second round on Friday in San Antonio. It's Nebraska's first NCAA appearance since 1998.
"I never really had a doubt, but I thought Dayton might be a real possibility," said Coach Miles minutes after the selection.
The Huskers watched on the Pinnacle Bank Arena floor, looking up at the jumbotron that was lowered for the event.
"It was a big (relief). They kept calling names that weren't ours and I kind of got nervous," said Big Ten first-team player Terran Petteway, who looked almost sick to his stomach while waiting. "I don't know about anybody else, but I was nervous the whole day. When they called our name, I didn't care who were were playing, I was just happy to be playing in the (NCAA) Tournament."
