Long drafted No. 78 by Washington

Former Nebraska walk-on offensive lineman from Elkhorn (Nebr.), Spencer Long, is a Washington Redskin. The 6-foot-4.5 and 320-pound offensive lineman goes No. 78 overall.

The predictions on the NFL Draft for Nebraska Cornhusker, Spencer Long, varied. The former walk-on from Elkhorn (Nebr.) was a team captain in 2013 and made both the Lombardi and the Outland Trophy Watch lists before a knee injury in the Purdue game (ACL tear).

Prior to the knee injury Long was likely on his way to being an All-American. Long was a CoSIDA first-team academic All-American and also earned the National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete Award for medical school.

Long was Washington's third round pick, going No. 78 overall and 14th in the third round, joining Trent Murphy from Stanford and Morgan Moses from Virginia. The pick for Long was acquired in a trade with Dallas.
