Bubak leaves Nebraska impressed

The only junior in the state of Nebraska holding an offer from the Huskers was in attendance for the Huskers' season opener. What were his thoughts about the day?

Jared Bubak from Lincoln (Nebr.) Christian headed downtown today for the home opener at Nebraska. The 6-foot-4 and 240-pound tight end is holding an offer from the Huskers and spent a lot of time today with other recruits.

"We got up to the school around noon," Bubak said. "I got a chance to have lunch with the rest of the other recruits. It was a lot of fun. I hung out with Christian Gaylord, Matt Clark and Conrad Harker."

Bubak said that he definitely had a good opportunity to talk with one of the commitments. There was some talk about joining the family, but ultimately it's about what's right. Bubak got to meet a number of other commits in the 2015 class as well.

"He was definitely encouraging me about Nebraska, but he also wants me to make the right choice for me. and I really liked hanging out with him. I connected with him today. He's a great guy.

"I really had a chance to hang out with a number of commits from this year's class. I was with Christan, Avery Anderson, Eric Lee and DaiShon Neal. They are all great guys."

The Nebraska offense was hitting on all cylinders today -- putting up 55 points and had 784 yards of total offense -- and that definitely caught Bubak's eye. There are definitely a lot of positives that Bubak sees with the Nebraska offense and at the tight end position.

"It's a very high powered offense," Bubak said. "Coach Tim Beck really has that offense going in the right direction. I spoke with Coach Barney Cotton today and they were telling me about the need at tight end in my class. There could be a big opportunity there."

There were some new things to see today even for a kid from Lincoln. Bubak came away impressed with the new things and liked the energy that the tweaks brought to the environment for the fans.

"I really loved the new scoreboard. I had seen it being installed in the stadium driving through downtown. The tunnel walk was cool with the smoke and the fireworks were great after the scores.

Nebraska started out with some fireworks and a win, but Bubak's senior season has started out with a loss. Bubak had a good night personally, but the team started out poorly and had some other mistakes that ended up costing them.

"We lost the other night in out first game. We had a couple of mistakes like allowing a touchdown return on the opening kickoff. I ran for a touchdown and I also threw for one."
