#FearAmeer

Ameer Abdullah's Heisman campaign is highlighted by the Twitter hash tag #FearAmeer. FAU's defense will have nightmares about the senior for the next few days.

LINCOLN, Neb. - On Saturday, Nebraska running back Ameer Abdullah showed the world why #FearAmeer was a popular hash tag and a perfect slogan for his Heisman campaign.

Abdullah ran for 232 yards on Saturday, a career high, helping the Huskers dismantle Florida Atlantic 55-7. Abdullah recorded just 21 carries, averaging slightly over 11 yards per touch. Now just the eighth player in Nebraska history to rush for 3,000 yards, Abdullah find himself No. 6 on the Huskers all-time list with his performance.

“He is the best running back in the nation. I truly believe that,” said quarterback Tommy Armstrong. “I believe they have him as the No. 1 or 2 back in the Big Ten. I just think he is taking that to heart and he is going out there and proving to everyone why he should be one of the contenders for one of the best running backs in the country."

Abdullah has earned the trust and respect of his teammates for both his leadership and the consistency in which he performs. This was Abdullah’s 18th 100 yard game and his 11th in his last 13 contests.

"He is a tremendous back,” said FAU head coach Charlie Partridge. “He is a back that is going to break tackles against any defense in the country. Whether it is someone in the Big Ten or someone in Conference USA, it doesn’t matter. He is one of the best backs in the country. At times, he was certainly what I expected today, and that is what he has been here for several years now. He was a class player today.”

Barring injury, Abdullah will finish his career inside the top five on Nebraska’s all-time rushing list. Kicking off his senior season with 232 yards on 21 careers is exactly the type of start a Husker legend and Heisman hopeful wants when leading his team on a championship run.

Abdullah didn’t talk to reporters on Saturday, his box sore said enough.
