Chaz Washington Updates KSU Visit Plans

If you're looking for a lot of energy in a gigantic frame, you've found it in current Miami commitment Chaz Washington. We spoke to Chaz about taking visits to other schools and what the possibility of a decommit from Miami was along with where he plans to go and what the chances are he could end up a Cornhusker.

At 6' 4" and 300 pounds, Chaz Washington should not move as quickly as he does. Sporting a 4.9 40 yard dash, the Miami Hurricanes got a commitment from Chaz on his 18th birthday, but the question going around is: How solid is the commitment? "It's a strong commitment, but I'm going to take a visit here and there to Nebraska and Oklahoma then go to Miami in January to see what's out there. I don't believe I'm making a mistake, but I just want to be sure of my commitment," he said.

When asked if he still planned to make the Kansas State game, Washington informed us that he is having senior pictures taken for the yearbook that day, so he is looking to catch a later flight on Saturday if possible to get in town. We will catch up with him later on in the week to confirm whether or not he will be in Lincoln.

When asked about the possibility of a decommit to Nebraska, or any other school for that matter, Washington was adamant about his position. "Right now, my commitment is a 99.9% commit and I won't de-commit, I just want to see different facilities and such. I visited Miami when I was a freshman and they had great facilities then, so I'd imagine they've improved," he stated.

Washington's Destrehan High team finished the season 8-1 and will open the playoffs this Friday. Throughout the season, Chaz believes he has improved as an athlete, but has done so a little dinged up. "I improved but I can't make excuses. I had a minor injury with a ligament in the fifth game of the season but I still played on it. It's all about being a man and being a team leader and playing with injury," Washington commented.

Despite the commitment to Miami, Washington boasts about his relationship with Defensive Line Coach John Blake. "Things are going great. Coach Blake is one of the best guys I've ever met in my life. He's one of the best guys to sit down with. He's like a second father to me and I tell him what's on my mind. He knows how to motivate you and that's what's helped me this senior year along with my father," Chaz said.

Again, we'll be sure to catch up with Chaz later on in the week to make sure he will be in Lincoln this coming Saturday and if not, when he will be.
