Omaha Central Lineman commits
Brandon Teamer commits

Posted Jun 27, 2002

Omaha Central has put out some great football players over the years. Leodis Flowers, Joe Orduna, Keith Jones, Ahman Green, Calvin Jones and of course, Gayle Sayers. Running Back High as Central has become to be known, they have put their share on the Husker grid iron and beyond. Lately though, recruits are coming out of Central that are doing their best to change that reputation. Lineman, Brandon Teamer will be the next Central standout to try.

It didn’t take Teamer long to make his decision on where he wanted to go. Though he had acquired several scholarships before hand, it wasn’t until Frank Solich presented him with an offer that Brandon made up his mind. He was going to be a Husker.

"I just felt it was the place I needed to be", Teamer told the Omaha World Herald. "The coaches made me feel comfortable. They didn't promise me anything, but they said they would give me an opportunity to do big things. And it's a plus to get to stay close to home."

At 6'5" and 262 lbs. Teamer’s potential is obvious. The fact that he played both sides of the line for the perennial power, Omaha Central, chalk up another reason to love what this young stud can do for your team at the next level. Also not lost on the senses are the impressive numbers Teamer puts up, running a 5.10 40 and he reportedly benches and squats 330 lbs. And 500 lbs. Respectively.

As stated above, Teamer wasn’t exactly suffering when it came to attention. He had already had offers on the table from schools like Colorado and Notre Dame. He even intended to take his visits until his visit to NU’s spring practice and subsequently, Summer Camp."I told him, 'If you want to go to Nebraska, just commit so you concentrate on your season and you won't have all these coaches bugging you," Teamer’s dad told OWH. Apparently, that was enough.

Teamer pledged his future services to the Huskers, NU picks up another very valuable big man and he also joins another former teammate, WR Mark LeFlore , stripping away yet more of the stereotypical fabric that says the best players from Omaha Central are running backs. By the way, I hear Omaha Central has another great running back this year.
