It's been a long time coming for Jacob Amie. It seemed like every time that Amie had a trip set up…
Amie almost committed in Lincoln
Texas Tech commit, Jacob Amie, was in to see Nebraska this weekend. The 6-foot-4.5 and 235 pound athlete from Tyler (Texas) Lee was blown away by the visit. "Everything is good at Nebraska," Amie said. "I loved it. There wasn't a negative thing that I have seen yet." "Most of all, it's just a great town, number one. There is a lot of fan support of course. When I got up there all of the people knew me." "People were telling me 'Jacob, we need you!' and stuff like that. My hosts were Terrence Nunn and Maurice Purify. We had a blast. They are really nice guys." Amie really said that everything was great when it came to the visit, but really enjoyed the practice. The practice showed the intensity of the team and it was fin. "Everything was great. They had good food. The coaching staff was great. I watched practice yesterday and that was intense, but there wasn't any pressure. It was up-tempo." "I liked the Husker Drill. That's when they go one on one and hit eachother really hard. Everyone was really excited about that." Amie was also able to get an idea at practice, and in talking to Coach Randy Jordan and Coach Shawn Watson, how Nebraska could use Amie in their offense. Amie said that he liked what Nebraska was telling him. "They also showed me how they were going to use me. It's like a tight end, of course, I'm flexed out a lot doing a lot of posts, outs and drag routes. They want me to find match-ups. I don't mind blocking at all." "When I was watching practice I noticed that they didn't have any real threats at tight end at all. I talked to Coach Jordan and Coach Watson about that and they said that was what they were trying to tell me." Amie left Lincoln without committing, but said that Nebraska has left quite an impression on him. "Obviously I am still committed to Texas Tech, but I was thinking about it and if I had to sign today I would sign with Nebraska. I haven't been to Tech yet." "On a scale of '1-10', I would have to say that Nebraska was a '10' because I didn't see one negative thing about them." Nebraska sealed up commitments from Terrance Moore, Joseph Townsend and Austin Stafford this weekend. Amie took note of all three commits. "The other three dudes that were there with me all committed. It was a great weekend. Everything is great up there, trust me." Amie said that he really got close to committing this weekend. He even said that had he been in Coach Bill Callahan's office one minute more he would have been a Husker. "Callahan broke me down like a 12-gauge. If I would have been in there 20 seconds longer I would have committed." "We were up there talking for like 25 minutes. Had it been 26, I would have been shutting everything down right now." There are at least two more visits remaining for Amie and maybe as many as four. There are only two trips though that are guaranteed by Amie. "I am for sure I am going to go to Texas Tech and Oklahoma State. I will probably take a trip to Missouri and Arkansas. Only Texas Tech and Oklahoma State are for sure."
