Watson Named Big 12 Pitcher of the Week

University of Nebraska pitcher Tony Watson was selected as the Big 12's Pitcher of the Week by the conference office Monday afternoon. It was the first career honor for Watson.

Tony Watson earned the honor after allowing one unearned run over 10 innings of work in Friday's series opener against Missouri. His 10 innings was not only a career-long performance, but also the longest outing by a Husker pitcher since the Big 12 was formed in 1996. Watson allowed just three hits and struck out a season-high seven Tigers, while retiring 14 of the final 15 hitters he faced.

The Huskers (13-9) wrap up a seven-game homestand this week, as they take on Northern Colorado in a two-game series, beginning Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m. Tickets for both games against the Bears are available by logging on to Huskers.com or at the Hawks Field Ticket Office beginning 90 minutes before first pitch.
