Biere shines in Columbia

Biere's stock is rising

While the search goes on nationally for a tight end for Nebraska, a very good tight end might be in their own backyard. The word is spreading about Tim Biere from Omaha (Nebr.) Westside and after his recent performance in Columbia for the Nike camp it might hit a fever pitch. What's next for this tight end?

Tim Biere has had a pretty busy weekend. After a very good showing in Columbia at the Nike Combine he headed up to Iowa for their camp.

"No, we went up to Iowa City for their camp," Biere said. "We had a busy weekend. We were in Columbia on Friday."

The 6-foot-4 and 230-pound Biere from Omaha (Nebr.) Westside brought home top honors in Columbia. "It went real well. I ended up getting the MVP of the wide receivers and the tight ends."

Biere just said that things went good for him all day. In one on one drills he really showed what makes him dominant as a pass catching tight end.

"I got open a lot and made a lot of good catches all day. We were doing one on one with a cornerback and the quarterbacks were throwing to us."

In Iowa City, Biere said that he also had a good performance and that Iowa said that they would be in touch. "I did well today. They said that they would be in contact with me after camp. It went really well."

Teams have already taken notice of Biere and have tendered offers. Beyond the four offers he has, Biere is also receiving a considerable amount of attention that could lead to other offers.

"I am up to four offers. I have offers from Kansas, Kansas State, Ohio and Colorado State."

"I am also getting attention from Nebraska, Iowa State, Iowa, Northwestern, UCLA and Vanderbilt came by the school. Oklahoma called me the other night."

While Biere is receiving attention from Nebraska he isn't holding a Nebraska offer yet. He would like to get that offer from the Cornhuskers.

"Yeah, it's a good school. I am just looking for a place where I can be most comfortable. I'll have to see what happens in the next couple of weeks."

Biere mentioned that while growing up in Omaha that he did grow up a Husker fan. "Yeah, I grew up a Husker fan. I went to some games before in the past."

Beyond this weekend, Biere has some other camp plans. He is looking at a very busy schedule. "I am going to Northwestern for a day, Nebraska, Iowa State and probably Kansas and Kansas State."

Biere stars on the offense and the defense for Westside, but his days in college will more than likely be as a tight end. All of his offers are for offense and that is where he would prefer to play.

"All of my offers are to play tight end. I would prefer to play tight end in college. I think I can get open and catch the ball really well."

Last year Biere had 29 receptions for 456 yards receiving and nine touchdowns on offense. On defense, Biere recorded 70 tackles, 16 for loss and four sacks.
