Johnson thinking about visits

Will Nebraska get a visit?

This season wasn't quite the same for Victor Johnson. Teams, after two years of challenging him, found most of the teams that he was facing were now going away from him. The stats aren't there for Johnson this year, as they were the previous two, but he is still one of the most sought after safeties in Texas and the country and for good reason.

At 6-foot-2 and 185-pounds, the upside with Victor Johnson at the collegiate level is amazing. The standout safety from Waco (Texas) is big, fast and strong.

"I can read well too," Johnson said. "I know what to do on the field by reading the quarterback and the receivers."

Johnson only had one interception this year, mostly because teams didn't challenge him. As a sophomore he had over 100 tackles and as a junior he had five interceptions.

Waco made an early exit from the playoffs by losing in the first round to Ennis. Johnson said that it was a heartbreaker. A four, overtime game that ended 37-34.

With the season over, Johnson is eyeing some official visits finally. Johnson said that four teams are going to get official visits with a few team contending over that last official visit spot.

"I will visit Miami, Oklahoma State, Oklahoma and Kansas. Then, there are some other teams that are there that I am considering for that last spot. I don't really want to say who they all are."

"All of the schools that are on my list are pretty much equal. I will know a lot more about who my top favorites are after I get to take some of my official visits.

Johnson doesn't play a winter sport, but he will be out running track in the spring. Until then, he is working on his academics with an up-coming re-take on his aptitude test. His re-take will be in January.

At one time, the Nebraska Cornhuskers were definitely on Johnson's list of favorites. While the Huskers aren't guaranteed a recruiting visit from Johnson he said that the Huskers are still being considered.

"I can't say. That is a school that I really like. That's one of those schools that I am considering for that last spot. It might be them and then it might not. I can't really say. They are really up there."
