Kelsey Griffin, a 6-2 forward from Eagle River, Alaska, headlined a list of seven All-Region 5 selections – all coming from the Big 12 Conference. The 2010 Big 12 Player of the Year, Griffin is averaging 20.3 points and 10.3 rebounds per game while leading Nebraska to a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Griffin, who ranks among the top 25 players nationally in scoring and rebounding and among the top 10 in field goal percentage, has powered the Huskers to a 30-1 record and the program’s first Big 12 regular-season title with a perfect 16-0 league mark.
A total of 52 players across the country earned WBCA All-Region honors, and the list of finalists for the State Farm WBCA All-America Team will be trimmed to 40 players on March 23. The 10-player All-America team will be announced on Saturday, April 3, at 1:05 p.m. on center court between open practices at the Alamodome during the NCAA Women’s Final Four.
