"The coaches at Nebraska wanted to meet with him this morning on his way out to the state track meet," Coach Carl Tesmer said. "It was Coach Barney Cotton that called and I know that he was to meet with Bo Pelini too."
This offer for Sterup, who Coach Tesmer says is right at 6-foot-9 and 270-pounds right now, goes onto a list of schools that includes Stanford, UCLA, Wisconsin, Iowa, Kansas, Kansas State, Louisville, Minnesota, Memphis, Ohio and now Nebraska. Tesmer has nothing but praise for Sterup and his abilities.
"Everything about Sterup makes him a great offensive tackle; he's also an excellent defensive player at our level too. As far as blocking, he's been at right tackle for us because we like to run a lot to the right side. He'll probably slide over to the left slide in college.
"He's a really hard worker; he's dedicated and has everything that you look for in a great player. Having him around here has brought DI attention to the school and it doesn't affect him. He doesn't think that he's above anyone else. In our workouts, he works as hard as or harder than everyone else."
Coach Tesmer has seen great talent before in fact he's coached it. "I'll make a prediction, Zach will be an All-American. I have been around great players before; I have had one of my players go to the NFL in John Parella. I think that he has that type of potential."
