2003:
Outlook Freshman Dani Busboom will
back up Michelle Lynch and will serve as the second setter if Nebraska runs a
6-2 offense. Busboom’s ability to contribute as a setter in her freshman season
is even more impressive considering that she did not play the position for most
of her prep career. Busboom switched to setter before her senior season at
Freeman High and played setter for the Nebraska Juniors club team.
Whether or not she plays setter, Busboom
will find a way onto the court because of her athleticism and competitiveness,
NU Coach John Cook said, adding that she could be used as a serving or defensive
specialist. Busboom has an impressive jump serve and broke the Nebraska state
prep record with 388 aces in her career.
High School
A
three-sport standout at Adams Freeman High School, Busboom was widely recognized
as one of the best athletes in the state in 2002. Busboom shared the Lincoln
Journal Star Girls High School Athlete-of-the-Year Award with NU teammate

All-Nebraska selection in both volleyball and basketball.
Busboom committed to the Huskers in 2001,
her junior year of high school, and switched positions from outside hitter to

state tournament semifinals with in impressive all-around game, as she produced
272 kills, 227 assists, 69 blocks and a state-record 104 aces. Busboom also
holds the state record for career service aces (388) and service aces in a
single match (11). Busboom was a four-time first-team all-state selection and a
three-time first-team Lincoln Journal Star Super-State pick.

per game her senior season while leading 28-0 Freeman to its second straight
Class D-1 state title. Busboom posted 27 points against Falls City Sacred Heart
in the state title game, and she finished her career with 1,712 points. Busboom

honors her junior and senior seasons.
