Outlook
After waiting patiently
behind All-American setter Greichaly Cepero for the past two seasons, redshirt
sophomore Michelle Lynch will become the Huskers? floor general in 2003.
NU Coach John Cook said Lynch sets a
"hitter?s ball" and has the talent to become the next in a long line of great
Husker setters. Lynch stands 5-foot-11, three inches shorter than Cepero, but is
a gifted attacker and has an advantage at the net because she is left handed,
Cook said.
Lynch is also one of the Huskers? best at
the service line. In 2002, she tallied 21 service aces in 60 games with her jump
serve, the highest per-game average on the team.

Lynch saw time at setter behind Cepero, but found a way onto the court
with her serve and played in 60 games as a serving specialist. Lynch was
Nebraska?s most effective server in the NCAA Tournament. A left-handed jump
server, Lynch posted two aces against Tennessee-Martin Dec. 6, two against
Arizona State Dec. 7, and three against Miami Dec. 13 in the regional semifinal.
She finished the season with 21 service aces and 20 digs. Lynch?s 0.35 service
aces-per-game average tied for seventh in the Big 12 Conference.
Lynch emerged as one of the best servers
on the team in September. She made her collegiate debut against No. 1 USC Sept.
2 and was the Huskers? top threat at the service line with two aces.
Lynch went on to notch a service ace in
six of her next nine matches and tallied two each against Pepperdine, Alabama
and Michigan. However, during the last we
