Nebraska can add another to the 2012 commitment list. On Monday night, BRR learned that Sam Cotton, son of offensive line coach Barney Cotton, committed to the Huskers. Sam becomes the first known offeree from the state of Nebraska this year.

Was there any doubt where Lincoln Southeast 2012 tight end Sam Cotton would really end up?

On Monday night, the soon to be senior confirmed to Big Red Report through a text message that he had committed to Nebraska over the weekend, deciding to join his two brothers and his father Barney Cotton the offensive line coach.

Cotton, who weighs in at 235 and stands right at 6-foot-4, worked out for Coach Bo Pelini at session one of the Huskers football camp a week and a half ago.

As a junior, he mostly played defense, backing up Nebraska signee David Sutton on offense. This year, he will be asked to play both sides of the football.

"He's going to be ready to do that," said Lincoln Southeast head coach Ryan Gottula. "He's got great hands and is a good route runner. He's just really going have to expand his role on both sides of the ball this season.

"He's got great work ethic, as you can tell good size, and really good speed. He's going to be able to do some really good things for us next year."

It's not known right now when Cotton picked up the offer, but BRR will try to get in touch with the newest commitment for the full story. Cotton picked Nebraska over offers also from Tulsa and Ohio.
