Gophers Become Bowl Eligible

CHAMPAIGN (Ill.) - Saturday was a momentous day for Jerry Kill and the Gophers. The Maroon and Gold topped Illinois, 17-3, giving them six victories on the year, enough for their first bowl visit since 2009. At Saturday's press conference, Kill and his players expressed the importance of making it to the postseason.

The last time the Gophers made it to a bowl game, Tim Brewster was head coach and starting quarterback Philip Nelson was a sophomore at Mankato West High School.
