Plenty of offers went out to Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex standouts during the past week, but the week's biggest news came over the weekend in the form of two commitments from 2015 prospects.
Denton Guyer quarterback Kevin Dillman, who recently moved to Guyer from La Mirada, Calif., pledged Saturday to Nebraska. The 6-foot-4, 205-pound Dillman, who is rated a three-star prospect by Scout.com, has an offer list that sits in the teens.
Perhaps the week's most attention-grabbing news came Sunday, when McKinney North's Ronald Jones, one of the state's top running backs in a loaded 2015 class, committed to Oklahoma State. The 6-foot, 185-pound Jones is a four-star prospect ranked No. 10 in the nation at running back by Scout.com. He ran for more than 2,400 yards this past fall. Jones' older sister attends Oklahoma State, which is one of about two dozen schools that have offered Jones.
Here's a look at the offers that went out from March 31-April 6:
Anthony Hines, 2017 LB, Plano East -- Hines, who could be one of the nation's top recruits in the 2017 class and is an early Mississippi State commit, also picked up a Kansas offer, which came Tuesday. Air Force then offered the young linebacker Thursday before a weekend offer from Miami.
Carlos Strickland, 2015 WR, Dallas Skyline -- Scout.com's No. 10 receiver in the nation got three big offers this past week: Ohio State on Tuesday, UCLA on Thursday, and Clemson on Friday. That pushes his offer list further into the teens.
Madison Akamnonu, 2015 OT, Arlington Bowie -- the 6-foot-5, 270-pound Akamnonu, who had an impressive performance at the Dallas Nike Football Training Camp on Saturday, picked up his ninth offer Tuesday from Missouri.
Adrian Miller, 2015 WR, Dallas Bishop Dunne -- "A.D." Miller got an SMU offer Thursday to offered by SMU on Thursday to push his offer list beyond a half dozen.
Kylan Johnson, 2015 S, Dallas Skyline -- UCLA sent out another DFW offer Thursday when it extended one to Johnson, offered by UCLA on Thursday. The Bruins are the first program to offer the 6-foot-3, 200-pounder.
Ryan Newsome, 2015 WR, Aledo -- Newsome has been one of the most heavily-recruited players in the state and that continued Thursday when he got an Indiana offer. Newsome may reach 30 offers before the end of the spring semester.
Akilian Butler, 2015 WR, West Mesquite -- Butler, who fits the slot spot well in just about any spread offense, got a Boise State offer Friday to give him three along with Clemson and Colorado. (Butler committed Monday [April 7] to Boise State.)
Chason Virgil, 2015 QB, West Mesquite -- Butler's quarterback picked up a Colorado offer Friday. Virgil now has about a dozen offers.
