Signs All There Kennedy Would Roll With Tide

Brandon Kennedy

It was not a huge surprise Friday morning in Wetumpka when one of the state’s top prospects, Brandon Kennedy, announced that he would sign with Alabama following his senior prep season.

Brandon Kennedy, a 6-2, 275-pound offensive guard/center prospect, made the announcement for Alabama at his school Friday morning. He plans to enroll in January

Kennedy had obviously been pleased when receiving a scholarship offer from the Crimson Tide. He said that he wants “to get a head start on the guys coming in May.”

There were clues that Kennedy would choose Alabama. He had proclaimed the Crimson Tide his all-tune favirute team, cited his closeness with Bama Offensive Line Coach Mario Cristobal, and made several trips to Tuscaloosa.

In fact, within the last week he had made two trips to Bama around a trip to Auburn. He said the second trip was because he wanted to have clarity about his situation.

It was important for him to be clear with Cristobal and Crimson Tide Head Coach Nick Saban on what Alabama’s plan was for him. To that end, he made a trip to Tuscaloosa to talk to the coaches. He said that depending on what upcoming fourth-year junior center Ryan Kelly does, Kennedy could be a center or a guard.

Although Saban famously downplans the importance of a depth chart – and has pointed out that Bama opponents use a Tide depth chart that the opponents manufacture in recruiting – Kennedy said that he was given

In addition to Alabama, Kennedy had offers from Southeastern Conference schools Auburn, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Missouri, and Tennessee, along with the likes of Georgia Tech, Clemson, and Minnesota.
