How Kingsbury's contract extension could impact the program and recruiting.
Tech, Kingsbury Agree to Contract Extension
The deal, which was announced Friday afternoon, extends Kingsbury's original contract by three seasons. The 35-year-old Kingsbury is due to make $3.1 million in 2015 with a $200,000 raise each year over the course of the contract, making him the fourth highest paid head coach in the Big 12 behind Oklahoma's Bob Stoops, Baylor's Art Briles and Texas' Charlie Strong.
The Red Raiders finished 8-5 with a Holiday Bowl win over Arizona State in Kingsbury's first season. Tech begins season two of the Kingsbury era against Central Arkansas 6 p.m. Saturday at Jones AT&T Stadium in Lubbock, TX.
